WHAT IS GROOVE AWARDS?
Groove Awards is the annual awards ceremony held annually in Kenya (and now in Rwanda) that seeks to promote, expose and celebrate Gospel talent in Kenya and East Africa. Groove Awards honours outstanding excellence in the Gospel Music Industry across areas of songwriting, performance, audio-visual production and media. Founded in 2004, Groove Awards has honored over 600 artists and groups and handed out hundreds of statuettes.
WHAT IS THE THEME FOR THE 2018 GROOVE AWARDS?
The 2018 Groove Awards theme is “REBUILD. RECLAIM. RESTORE”, and is based around the Biblical narrative of Nehemiah 2:17-18. In that story, Nehemiah grieved at the fact that the walls of his beloved city lay in ruins, and is calling on the people to rebuild the walls. In our context, we live in a time where everywhere we look, we see the devastating effects of our world’s brokenness; whether in our families, relationships, schools and workplaces, and national and international politics. Our call is to use music, and every other tool at our disposal, to speak a messages that will provide the restoration that our culture and our society so desperately needs.”
