Groove Camp 2018
On the May 23rd 2018, all roads led to Oak Place Conference Center in Windsor for the highly anticipated 2018 edition of the Groove Camp.

Led by the adage’ A CULTURE INFLUENCED FOR CHRIST BY ARTISTIC PEOPLE’, the Groove camp seeks to enhance each artists talents to reach their full potential. The fun filled sessions also aim at creating Fun filled recreational team building activities too.

This year, close to 300 artists, DJs, producers, dancers, MCs and other industry stakeholders were in attendance.

After being specially shuttled to the venue, the day kicked off with group allocations and a time of creative team-building. There after the Groove Band led us in a powerful time of worship, before Groove’s patron, Pastor Patrick Kuchio (CITAM Church) called on the industry to return to the agenda God had called us to.

Our MC for the day, DJ Soxxy did a splendid job of leading the day’s events, and constantly reiterating the theme “Rebuild.Reclaim. Restore“- a powerful call to repair the areas in our lives that are broken and in need of God’s intervention. The theme was inspired by Nehemiah 2:17-18, where Nehemiah calls on the Israelites to repair the broken walls of their city Jerusalem.

The speaker for the day was Pastor Muriithi Wanjau (senior pastor Mavuno Church), who shared a heartfelt message on how media and entertainment can be leveraged to set the agenda for an entire generation, and how we must rule over the mountain of media and entertainment.

Groove Awards founder Kevin Mulei joined Pator Murrithi for an interview, where he shared his own vision and how he has managed to use this to shape culture through positive content and entertainment. Mr. Mulei shared his heart for the industry and what he feels he has been called to do; build the highway through which many shall use.

A time of prayer followed, where the vision that had just been shared was committed to God, as was the team that executes the Groove vision, led by team leader Pastor David Kuria.

The last session for the day, was the games and team building. This session was hilarious as the spirit of competition was strong across the teams. The games were exciting and empowering as with each game played came a lesson.

The camp was an amazing time of bonding, prayer and learning, and a great start to the 2018 Groove season.
